Jackie & Jeff’s Spring Wedding

This gallery contains 14 photos.

One of the reasons I love planning and styling weddings is the opportunity to think out of the box and to create unique venues for clients. Fortunately, my clients have allowed a little design craziness. And as expected, some cockamamy ideas … Continue reading

What a privilege it was to plan and style Melissa and Dave’s woodland themed wedding at the Rodale Institute farm. For months I was fully immersed in planning every detail along with designing the invitation, styling the entire event along … Continue reading

Repurposed Vintage Spigot Handles

My friend Kate and I found these cool vintage spigot handles at our local antique store. The shapes are so unique that I had to have them — they were inexpensive and the sale was made.

With E-6000 adhesive, I reinvented them as magnets by simply gluing round hardware store magnets on the back of the spigot.

And voila’!

Simple Flower Arrangements & Flea Market Finds

Last week I had the privilege to do some floral styling for a video shoot. The photographer we worked with was photo journalist and Pulitzer Prize recipient, Matt Rainey. The images he captured are exquisite and Matt was kind enough to share these photos with me so I could share them with you.

For this assignment, I used simple and elegant thrift store vessels to compliment the freshly cut spring flowers. There’s really no need to spend big buck on vases … let the flowers express themselves.

Styling & Planning a Wedding

Creativity is a drug I cannot live without. — Cecile B. DeMille

Last fall, I shared a blog post about my dear friends wedding. As with any event, I was honored to have the opportunity to help plan and style Jessica and Ryan’s special day. Since there are so many moving parts to wedding celebrations, planning can sometimes seem challenging but with great resources, creativity, fantastic and dedicated helpers (who I love and adore), and many, many to-do lists, events like this all come together.

Jess & Ryan recently shared ALL of their wedding photos with me and I pulled a select few to share with you. The photographer, Farid Widjaya, brilliantly captured every magical moment. Enjoy!

A Fall Wedding for Jessica & Ryan

About a year ago I was asked by my dear friends to help plan and style their fall wedding which they were planning to have on the magical Rodale Institute Farm.

The day was perfect. All of the prop hunting, hard work and support from my loving friends and family, coupled with the beautiful Jessica and her dashing husband Ryan, made for an absolutely enchanting day. And, Rodale Catering & Events‘ fried chicken, mac & cheese, and scrumptious pies and desserts were to die for.

Enjoy a few snaps shots from Jess & Ryan’s special day.

Saturday Flowers

Recently I provided the flowers for a Garden of Hope event hosted by the Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley. It was an outdoor event filled with inspiring stories of courage, hope and inspiration from a cancer survivor and a Salsa performance by Lehigh Valley Salsa.

The flowers I used were a few of my favorites: golden rod, hydrangea, chrysanthemum, voodoo roses, zinnias and hosta leaves to line the interior of the clear glass vases.

This little fella was still feasting and wasn’t quite ready to give up its tasty meal.

And here are the creations.

Happy Saturday!

Birch Log Table Numbers

A contractor friend of mine cut down an old birch tree and was kind enough to give me a stack of the sliced logs. Knowing I’d find some creative use I tucked them away for a weekend project. Here they are in their new life as chalkboard table numbers.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Sliced logs.
  • Sand paper.
  • Foam paint brush.
  • Rust-Oleum chalkboard paint.
  • Chalk.

With the exception of the logs, you can find all of the project ingredients at a craft or hardware store.

Here’s how ya do it:

1. Sand them.

2. Paint them.

3. Create!

Happy Saturday and happy crafting!

Sunday Flowers

This is going to be a quickie post but I wanted to share my latest creation. Today I whipped together two giant arrangements like the photo above using only free floral bounty I could collect locally — no store-bought flowers here! And no, I didn’t break any laws.

In a galvanized bucket, I arranged hydrangea, anemone, red wheat-head celosia and crab apple.

Happy Sunday!

River Rock Place Card Holders

You may see a pile of rocks, but I see place card holders (well maybe this time).  Simply place a dab of E-6000 Epoxy (found at craft stores) between two rocks of similar size and let dry overnight.  Remember to leave enough space between the two rocks to hold a piece of paper or leaf.

You can also use some small rocks found in your back yard or pick up a bag at your local craft store. To write my guests’ names on the leaves, I used a white Sharpie pen purchased at Dick Blick Art Materials. Super easy and elegant.

Happy summer and happy crafting!
